    AI Anganwadi Smart Anganwadi Initiative

    Project Overview

Project Name: AI Anganwadi (Smart Anganwadi Initiative)
Location: Morti Village, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India
    Launched On: 6 August 2024
Initiated & Sponsored By: Rotary International District 3012, Innogical Innovation
    Technology Partner: Vanijya Technology
Domain: GovTech · EdTech · AI for Social Impact

    Background & Problem Statement

Traditional Anganwadi centres in rural and semi-urban India often face challenges such as:

    • Low student attendance

    • Limited engagement using conventional teaching methods

    • Difficulty in monitoring learning progress and daily activities

    • Lack of digital exposure for early childhood learners

The objective of this project was to modernize early childhood education and care by introducing technology-assisted, data-driven learning in Anganwadis—without disrupting their grassroots nature.

    Solution Implemented

The AI Anganwadi project introduced a digitally enabled classroom supported by a centralized monitoring system.

    Key Components

    • Interactive Digital Blackboard

      • Touch-enabled smart screen

      • Animated learning modules (Hindi, English, Mathematics, General Knowledge)

      • Audio-visual storytelling for children aged 3–6

    • AI-Assisted Monitoring Dashboard

      • Real-time tracking of daily classroom activities

      • Curriculum planning and monthly activity display

      • Data-driven insights to optimize learning and attendance

    • Smart Classroom Environment

      • Renovated classrooms with child-friendly design

      • Visual learning aids painted on walls

      • Improved seating and infrastructure

    Role & Contribution

As part of the software & technology implementation, the project focused on:

    • Designing a centralized digital system to manage Anganwadi learning content

    • Enabling real-time activity monitoring through an admin dashboard

    • Supporting scalability for future Anganwadi digitisation

    • Ensuring usability for non-technical educators and Anganwadi staff

    Launch & Recognition

The initiative was inaugurated by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, in the presence of senior government officials, district administration, and Rotary dignitaries.

The project was widely recognized as India’s first AI-enabled Anganwadi, receiving coverage from national media including ThePrint.

    Measurable Impact

Within 7 days of implementation, the Anganwadi observed:

    • Attendance increase: from 35 to 42 children

    • Zero late arrivals reported

    • 8 new student admissions in under a week

    • Improved parental engagement—parents began dropping children early

    • Enhanced learning outcomes through interactive content

Teachers reported that children were more attentive, participative, and enthusiastic compared to traditional teaching methods.

    User Experience Highlights

    • Children actively interacted with animated lessons (“A is for Apple”, “C is for Cat”)

    • Learning became play-based and joyful

    • Parents observed improved curiosity and storytelling at home

    • Anganwadi staff shifted from manual follow-ups to guided digital instruction

    Technology Stack (High-Level)
